Junior Academy - June details

Its very hard for myself and Diane to keep up with organising the junior academy as we’ve got loads of commitments ourselves, like the rest of you, I’m sure.

Still, last junior academy at Heathcroft stud went great. Tracy Newman did a great job with all the juniors and many thanks to Michael Marren for "educating" us a bit more about saddle fitting. Adrian Marsh was also great to surprise us with a barbecue and all the kids enjoyed the games. Yes boys and girls I will try to have a high jump at the next academy!
A lot of you have now got the pony proficiency, well done, and its nice to see so much interest for the 5 star performance awards

Dont miss the next junior academy now booked for the Tuesday 1st of June at Church Farm. Please can I have your booking forms in before the 25th of May so I can get things sorted out. Its going to be a great day!

Georgina Wallis, Amanda Carpenter and last academys first person to book, Katie Mc Manus have still got to claim their £10 discount.

More details about what we re going to do on the day will follow as soon as I get an idea of numbers, so please try and book as early as you can.

Joe Pullen

It was with great sadness on Saturday morning, the 17th October 2009, that we were told Joe Pullen had passed away peacefully.

Joe’s life with horses started in the show-jumping world. He was on the BHS BSJA Committee and helped to start the careers of Graham Fletcher, David Bowen, Adrian Marsh and Geoff Billington by providing them all with good jumpers. He was also the former Area 17 rep.

A skilled driver, he will be well remembered driving his grey pair Steptoe and Tiptoe for the first time at Beamish in 1975. He continued competing in Horse Pairs with his wife Doreen driving in Pony Pairs for almost 30 years.

Most of all he will be remembered for the wonderful and successful events he and Doreen organised at Tatton Park.

Our deepest sympathies go to his wife Doreen and daughter Stephanie. Joe will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

The funeral will take place at 12 noon on Thursday 29th October at Monton Unitarian Church, Monton Green, Monton, Eccles, Manchester M30 8AP

Area 17 Mums @ Hoys !

Great results for area 17 mums at Hoys with Ruth Mason winning the Star of the Future working hunter, Julie Andrews finishing 3rd in the 7 & 8 yo, 3rd in the newcomers, 4 & 5th in the Grade C, Eleni Murphy finishing 5th in the 6 yo and Claire Shepherd 4th in the 1.20 amateurs.

Danielle Rider did also two lovely rounds in the 6 yo and got 7th and our junior academy member Cameron Thompson rode a brilliant jump off in the 138 championship to take the 3rd place.

Well done to everyone, lets hope we keep it up!
